NIFTY move on such days: how much NIFTY went up or down, on average, on past days with the same event (an ordinary day: about ±0.66%). "Bigger than usual" means these days tend to be more volatile than normal. For events after 15:30, the next trading day is counted.
Sources: RBI, MoSPI and Federal Reserve published schedules. Dates can change; a release due on a holiday moves to the next working day. Information only, not investment advice.
What time is the RBI policy announced?
At 10:00 IST on the last day of the Monetary Policy Committee meeting, followed by the Governor's press conference.
When is India's CPI inflation released?
On the 12th of each month at 16:00 IST (the next working day if the 12th is a holiday), so markets react the following morning.
When does the US Fed decision come out in India?
At 23:30 IST during US summer time, or 00:30 IST (the next date) in winter. Indian markets react at the next open.
Why does the straddle price fall after big events?
Before an event option prices include the uncertainty. Once the news is out that uncertainty is gone, so premiums often drop sharply (an 'IV crush') unless the market makes a big move.
