What do long build-up, short build-up, short covering and long unwinding mean?
They combine today's price change with the change in open interest (OI). Price up and OI up is long build-up: new buyers. Price down and OI up is short build-up: new sellers. Price up and OI down is short covering: sellers closing their positions. Price down and OI down is long unwinding: buyers closing their positions.
Where does the open interest come from?
From NSE's open interest for each F&O stock, futures and options together, compared with the previous day's close. It is refreshed every 5 minutes during market hours.
How do I read the map?
Each dot is a stock: left to right is today's price change, bottom to top is the change in open interest. The four corners are the four build-ups. Click a corner to see only those stocks in the table.
Is this a buy or sell signal?
No. Build-up shows how positions changed today. It is information only, not investment advice.
